The woman behind the swears
Meet Aunt Mellie.
She's been through the woo. She kept what works. She's here to hand it to you with zero pretension.
Aunt Mellie is…
I’m Mellie, your weird spiritual aunt with a crystal collection, a curious brain, and a vocabulary that occasionally requires a warning label. I write about spiritual practice, the stories that shape our lives, and whatever else I think you need to hear. Expect practical tools, honest questions, and room to be yourself while you figure your shit out.
The slightly longer version
I’ve spent years exploring the woo-woo world—learning, practicing, and figuring out what earns a place in my life. Crystals, tarot, runes, astrology, numerology, and moon cycles have given me plenty to study and work with. I’m interested in the details: how you build a relationship with a tool, how you use it consistently, and what you notice when you actually pay attention.
Along the way, I’ve also navigated mental health challenges and worked through a lot of old programming. People-pleasing has been part of that story. So has examining the things I believed about myself because I’d heard them often enough to mistake them for facts. That work can be uncomfortable as hell, especially when a familiar story starts to fall apart before you know what comes next.
I wanted to understand those patterns better. That curiosity led me to study neurolinguistic programming, the parasympathetic nervous system, and coping tools. I’ve spent time looking at how the stories we carry influence our choices—and how difficult it can be to change a habit even after we recognize it. Those questions are part of what I explore here alongside my spiritual practice.
Sweary Aunt Mellie grew out of those overlapping interests. Sometimes I’m writing about working with a crystal or building a ritual. Sometimes I’m asking you to look at a story you keep telling about yourself. Sometimes I have an opinion and a keyboard, and you’re getting unsolicited advice. It all comes from wanting to understand my experience and share something useful from it.
I care about having a practice you can actually live with. One that leaves room for questions, changing your mind, and being a whole human with a complicated life. I’m still learning, too. What I bring is my experience, the tools I’ve worked with, and a willingness to talk honestly about the messy parts.
What Aunt Mellie believes
Spirituality isn't a personality type.
You don't have to be calm, ethereal, or dressed in linen to work with energy. You just have to be willing to pay attention.
Your brain is not your enemy.
The patterns you're stuck in made sense once. Understanding them is the first step to actually changing them — not fighting them.
Tools work best when you use them.
No crystal stays in the drawer. No tarot deck gathers dust here. If it's on this site, Aunt Mellie has used it, tested it, and kept it because it delivers.
Clarity is an act of self-respect.
Confusion is comfortable. It keeps you from having to choose. Getting clear — really clear — is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself.
Ready to actually do the thing?
Aunt Mellie works with people who are done half-assing their inner work. If that's you — let's talk.
